Preparations are in full swing for the 19th international trade fair for food, beverages, food processing, technology, packaging, equipment and services for HoReCa and retailers Riga Food 2014 to be held at Kipsala International Exhibition Centre in Riga, Latvia, from 4–7 September.
The Riga Food fair is the most significant food industry event in the Baltics gathering almost all food businesses, governmental, municipal and non-governmental organisations, experts of connected branches and investors from the whole region as participants or trade and business visitors. Moreover, Riga Food is the largest food fair revealing the development trends, novelties and major players in the Baltic food market.
“Riga Food is a proven value; lots of established and new enterprises looking for ways to consolidate their position in the market or find new niche markets choose to participate in Riga Food to improve their business activities,” the project manager of Riga Food 2014 Rolands Nezborts points out.
Food businesses from all over the world apply for participation
Participants from more than 30 countries – Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Ukraine, France, Spain, Papua New Guinea, Portugal, Korea and Croatia – have already registered for participation in Riga Food 2014.
Attendance numbers for participants, visitors, foreign food companies and organisations have been growing over recent years. Foreign companies taking part in Riga Food last year accounted for 22% of the total attendance, Latvian manufacturers – 59%, Latvian importers and wholesalers –19%.
A record number of national collective stands
Riga Food will present a great number of national collective stands of such countries as Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Belarus, Belgium, Denmark, Moldova, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the PR of China, Romania, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and other.
For the first time at Riga Food
Among the first-time Riga Food participants there will be such companies as Stefano Toselli, a frozen foods producer from France; Samura Cutlery, the leading distributor of Japanese knives in Russia; Oleum Priorat, an olive oil distributor from Spain; Fresh Industries / America Fresh, a manufacturer of cleaning products from Canada; System Venbo, a supplier of professional kitchen equipment from Lithuania and other companies. There will be a special sector for frozen foods at Riga Food this year.
Latvian producers at Riga Food
Latvian food producers are also seizing the opportunity to get new contacts, to meet professional visitors and to boost their business development. Among domestic participants there will be such Latvian producers as Dabas produkti, Balticovo, Iecavnieks, A/S Agrofirma Tērvete, Indrāni Ostrich Farm, Rīgas saldējums, Riga Pharmaceutical Plant, RicBerry and many other companies.
Collective stands of Latvian regions
Riga Food 2014 is going to present food companies not only in individual stands but also in four collective stands of Latvian regions – Latgale, Kurzeme, Vidzeme and Zemgale – that will be twice as large as a year ago. Home and small-scale producers, small and medium-sized enterprises will invite to enjoy the beauty and traditional cuisine of Latvian regions.

Professional and food competitions
Riga Food 2014 will bring together the best chefs, pastry chefs and bartenders to show their professionalism, agility and creativity and compete for prizes at different competitions and challenges. Food manufacturers and technologists, on turn, will contend for Riga Food medals at the premium quality food competitions.
”Pilsētas ziņģe” in Kipsala
“Pilsētas ziņģe” is an exciting entertainment festival to be held in the open-air site of the exhibition centre. The festival will offer a four-day programme of musical performances, an opportunity to sing, join different activities and quizzes, an to compete. Delicious snacks and tasty beers to be served! The festival is organised by the Brewers Union “Alus brālība” in association with Latvijas Radio 2.
As reported earlier, Riga Food 2013 gathered 664 participants from 35 countries and presented national collective stands of 11 countries – Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Belarus, Italy, Belgium, Canada, Hungary, Uzbekistan, Moldova and Poland.
